Summer Social

I took the opportunity to be social this week. Alone. Shane stayed home with Carrie and they probably had an electronics party (Roblox for him; Fire Emblem for her).

Tuesday night, John, Fabrice and I revisited trivia night. We went pretty regularly for a while, but then Tom and I both moved (He moved a lot further than me!). Then trivia gatherings got put on hold for the pandemic.

John noticed that Firefly was starting their trivia nights again. It was an off week for child care and Kelly was out of town, so he asked, "Want to get the group back together?"

So we did! It was the second time back and things changed a lot. Instead of writing down answers it's all on the phone now.

That probably makes scoring much easier on the MC.

It was a busy night for Firefly with 24 teams registered! We recognized some groups from the years before (including our nemesis!).

We did poorly on the music round. It was International Chess Day and all the songs had to have chess or chess adjacent references for their names ("Pon de Replay?" "Trap Queen?"). I was useless in that round! I was more help when we got 12 out of 16 points for "Name 16 out of the 17 countries that have hosted a Summer Olympics."

And we won a bonus round! John was just complaining most of his glasses had been broken!

No longer do crowds gather to write furiously and try to shove their answer in front of the MC. It's all done on the phone and a random winner is selected out of the correct answers.

I got home too late for chores, but helped clean up the mess from my absence the next morning.

And then I left the house again to help with canning.

And afterwards, I played a *gasp* board game

Carrie did ask me to drive out to Keswick to pick up some horse meds for Maddy. She's had diarrhea ever since Carrie introduced a new supplement (Which has made chores extra messy).

Neither outing felt overlong, but they ate up more of the day than I expected. Days seem so short the older I get. There was a concert at the brewery on Thursday including Scott and Mark's band I could have taken Shane to, but I took him to the pool instead. The idea of being out of the house for hours three days in a row felt like too much. Maybe I'll get used to it with practice. There's plans to do trivia again in a couple of weeks.
