Grandma and Grandpa's

On Monday, we drove to visit Grandpa and Grandma. Carrie and Grandma swapped art.

Or really, we swapped back some of their Egyptian art for some different art they had.

Shane wanted to try out a hose attachment to make an arsenal of water balloons, but that was (sadly) off the menu.

His main targets would've been me and the dog. Yes, we brought Loki. Since Grandma allowed it on the way to camp, we took it as continuing permission.

He was happy to spread his 'art' around the lawn to deter deer.

Shane and Loki both were interested in finding Bucket in the house. She was hiding upstairs, so only Shane got to say hello.

And Shane's hello came in between watching birds and throwing old pistachios around the yard.

Grandpa asked the magic question after everyone snacked on some banana bread: "Want to go fishing?"

Bread was in short supply.

But it was enough to venture forth for at least a little while!

Maybe we should've taken Loki. It seemed dicey without a leash and with Loki's fetch instincts while flinging a hook into a body of water (right after driving over in Grandpa's car!).

Like true fishermen, we came home with a story of "the one that got away."

Only it wasn't a fish. It was a bobber.

Shane did his best to aim for the flyaway bobber with each cast to direct it shoreward.

We caught it in the end! And it was the only thing we caught (Better than coming back empty-handed!).

Shane would love to go on another fishing expedition like last summer. Maybe I should start researching into it. Even something as simple as standing around by the pond with us is fun in his book.

Myself, I was a little jealous of the ladies getting to hang out in the air conditioning.  But it would've been a much less exciting post if I hadn't ventured forth with Grandpa and Shane.

We returned from our trip for some final conversation before it was time to go home. Shane's not a big fan of conversing when he has to listen and the topic isn't Roblox, Minecraft, or Pokemon. He asked Grandpa to go upstairs with him to look at trains, and Carrie....Carrie had a lot of fun calling Loki up on the furniture whenever Grandma's back was turned!

Shane doesn't only get his sense of trouble from me! I was actually against it, because I didn't want to confuse Loki for when he's at home and/or get him in trouble.

But it was funny. I like Carrie's smirk.

We got dinner from Arby's on the way home. We had to make it back in time for horse chores. I like sleeping over as a family at different places, but the horses make that impossible without coverage. Maybe we can just leave Shane for a night or two next time......and maybe Loki to keep him company!
