Lane relocated today. He'd been with us since August. I wrote about his story some here (Warning! Bloody injury in the link). He made a lot of progress while he was with us (The fact that he was able to walk on gravel here without pain is huge).
Sarah had been trying to find a leaser, but no one was found before the move-out date. Carrie posted online, talked to many, and at least one lady came out. No suitable home was found, so Carrie trailed Lane back to Sarah's farm after I got home from work.
It was time for Ernie to reintegrate from the herd. He'd had enough of the 'recovery lot' and was trying to tunnel under the lines.
Ernie will shift back into the boys lot and take Lane's place with Eddy and Indy. That will open up the 'recovery lot' to become the 'pregnant mare' lot when Carrie sequesters Eowyn there.
It feels a little odd to see a horse move on after you're used to them living with you, but it's all part of life on a farm. Lane was always temporary and stayed longer than expected, as is.
